St. John’s Making Connections and Social Ministry Committees are co-sponsoring once-a-monthly food pantry Sundays. St. John’s tote bags will be handed out by the ushers after both worship services on the 3rd Sunday of each month and returned to church the following Sunday w/ a small donation of non-perishable food pantry items for the food pantry. During the offering portion of the worship service on that 4th Sunday, worshipers can bring their food pantry items to the front of the church. An additional food pantry/ local hunger donation option on food pantry Sunday is the pew envelopes (local hunger).
We will celebrate Reformation Sunday on October 29th with one service beginning at 9:30 a.m. (complete with a confirmation!). Worship will be followed by a potluck brunch at 11:00 a.m. (and there may even be some pumpkin carving).
Currently, well over 2,000 communities across the U.S. join in more than 1,000 CROP Hunger Walks each year. More than five million CROP Hunger Walkers have participated in more than 36,000 CROP Hunger Walks in the last two decades alone. St. John’s is always well-represented – 8 of our 14 walkers this year can be seen in the photo above! For more info about this annual event, see crophungerwalk.org.
